Leopard Gecko Behavior
Like most other
geckos, Leopard geckos usually hide away under logs or in
burrows during the daytime while they sleep. This is normal
Leopard gecko behavior and is called nocturnalism. When active
they tend to be inquisitive animals and will walk around slowly
looking for moving food objects.
Although Leopard
geckos are ground dwelling species their clawed toes allow them
to climb on rocks and branches. This Leopard gecko behavior
allows them to absorb heat ventrally and to bask in the sun at
the same time.
Leopard gecko eating
behavior entails scavenging around, looking for the
occasional prey. They are hunters by nature, but will also eat
slow moving, worm-like creatures.
Leopard geckos shed
periodically and are known to
eat sloughed skin.
An interesting fact
about Leopard gecko behavior is that they are defaecatorial. This
defaecatorial behavior means that they often deposit their
droppings in the same area of their terrarium.
