Pros
Leopard geckos are one of the most kept gecko species in the in
the reptile trade. They are certainly one of the easier pet
lizards to look after with very little problems. Being
established as a pet they are fairly cheap in comparison with
other lizards and even other snakes. Like most other lizards /
reptiles, pet Leopard geckos are quiet, do not stink and you
need little effort from your side to keep them happy. They need
little electrical equipment, if any, in their containers, which
means their housing is also cheap and is easy to maintain. The
container size is relatively small in comparison with other
reptiles and UV lighting are unnecessary. Leopard gecko pets are
very hardy lizards if the normal requirements are met and will
almost adapt in any home. Leopard geckos are relatively small in
comparison with other lizards and have a very docile temperament
and can be handled easily.
Cons
Pet Leopard geckos are nocturnal which means they mainly come
out at night. During the day they hide in or under their hiding,
making them difficult to see and appreciate. Another downfall
compared with snakes is that these geckos need to be fed at
least once a day. Like with most lizards, food will be your
biggest expense. If not handled with absolute care they might
damage their tails which will never grow back to its original
size.
